It’s beach time just about everywhere in the northern hemisphere and collecting shells seems to come naturally. Those walks on the beach inevitably result in a delightful collection of treasures. Many of my clients have collected shells as a memento of a past trip and want to incorporate them into their home decor. According to Feng Shui, sea shells come loaded with luck and are a symbol of prosperity and healthy relationships. I’m always excited to add personal touches to interiors. But how to do this with shells in a chic and modern way? Here are 5 modern ways to style your shells and sand from those many beach trips.
ONE: Stylish Wall Art
Just recently, my sweet newlywed clients came to me with 4 bags of shells and sand that they had collected on their trips while dating. I decided to create an art installation with hanging glass bowls traditionally used as terrariums. Each trip was separated into a bowl and hung in their bedroom. It was a low cost high impact way to style their memories.
TWO: DIY Stoppers
THREE: A “Summer-y” Fireplace
FOUR: Simple Everyday Memory
FIVE: Just for the Holidays
There are so many ways to make seashells part of your everyday life. I have tons of ideas to help you create a cohesive and striking display. Each seashell has a story and that story is yours!
